Pikey Dudhkunda Short Trek is a perfect trekking route for those trekkers who are looking for an authentic trekking journey on the lap of Numbur Himal along with the panaromic views of mountains in the Everest Region. The Numbur Himalaya range is also locally known as the Sole Protector of the Mountainous Region. Moreover, the place is well known for its sacred pond which is as white as milk. Dudh Kunda (which literally means Milky Lake) is believed to be a holy lake and the locals believe that taking a dip in the holy waters will have the wishes granted also.
The 15-days of trek to this route also lets you explore the remote villages and wilder places of the lower Everest region of Nepal. Apart from the opportunity to mix up with ethnic inhabitants, the Pikey Dudhkunda Short Trek offers the chance to scale the Pikey Peak, which offers the magnificent views of the snow-capped beauties like Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m.), Mt. Makalu (8,463 m.), Mt. Cho Oyu (8,201 m.), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m.), Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m.) and Mt. Annapurna (8,091 m).
The trek begins after a 45 minute flight to Phaplu from where you ascent to Pikey Peak, possibly the best viewpoint for the Himalayas in all of Nepal as you get to see from Mt. Kanchenjunga in the east to the Annapurnas in the west! And of course, this includes Mt Everest, front and center. From Pikey Peak, you trek down to the large Sherpa village of Junbesi then you continue upwards to Dudh Kunda on the camping component of your trek and return to Phaplu via Chiwong Gompa (monastery).
